A Solenoid Valve is a device used to control the flow of liquid or gas in the engine system. It is usually powered by electromagnetic energy in a coil. The valves are useful in converting electrical energy into mechanical energy. It can be devided into two-way, three-way, and four-way valves.

Two-way valves have two ports, an inlet and an outlet. Basic three-way valves are specifically designed for operating cylinders and air-operated control valves. Four-way solenoid valves can be also useful in operating valves that have two solenoids in them. Solenoid valves are usually made up of stainless steel, Teflon, and brass materials that have different corrosive and heating properties. Here are some common problems that can occur to the solenoid valve.
1. Valves Do Not Open
2. Valves Partly Close
3. Erratic Valve Sounds
4. Coil Problems
