Filter life factor

The filter element installed inside the hydraulic filter is called a filter element, and its main material is a filter screen. The filter screen is mainly a woven mesh, a paper filter material, a glass fiber filter material, a chemical fiber filter material and a metal fiber filter felt. Filter media consisting of wire and various fibers are very fragile in texture. Although these materials have been reinforced during manufacturing, there are still work limitations. The main factors affecting filter life are now described below.

When the pressure at both ends of the filter passes through the filter element, a certain pressure drop will be generated at both ends. The specific value of the pressure drop depends on the structure and flow area of the filter element.

When the filter element receives impurities in the oil, these impurities will stay on the surface and inside of the filter element, shielding and blocking some of the through holes and passages, reducing the effective flow area, thereby increasing the pressure drop across the filter element. As the impurities intercepted by the filter element increase, the pressure drop before and after the filter element also increases. These intercepted particles will squeeze out of the pores of the medium and re-enter the system. The pressure drop will also enlarge the size of the original aperture, changing the performance of the filter and reducing the efficiency.
