1Engine Shutdown: Turn off the machinery's engine and engage the parking brake. Allow the fuel system to cool completely before starting the replacement.
2Old Filter Removal: Place a drain pan directly beneath the filter assembly. Use a strap wrench to unscrew the old FS19837 spin-on filter in a counter-clockwise direction.
3Clean the Mounting Base: Wipe down the cast iron filter mounting header with a clean, lint-free cloth. Ensure the old rubber gasket is completely removed from the sealing surface.
4Pre-Lubrication: Take the new fuel filter element and apply a thin layer of clean diesel fuel or clean engine oil to the exposed black rubber seal gasket.
5Spin-On Installation: Spin the new filter onto the threaded stud clockwise until the rubber seal contacts the mounting base face. Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn by hand. Do not over-tighten.
6System Priming: Prime the fuel system according to the manufacturer's specific instructions to bleed air pockets out. Start the engine and thoroughly inspect around the seal for any signs of fluid leaks.
