Allow the hydraulic fluid to cool to a warm, touch-safe temperature.
Vent the hydraulic reservoir internal air pressure by slowing loosening the tank breather cap or pressing the pressure-relief valve tab.

Unbolt the housing cover or spin loose the spent element counter-clockwise using a calibrated filter strap wrench.
